Happy Pride Month! Here are some updates on what is new around the website and what we are working on.
100 Member Milestone
We achieved a significant milestone a few days ago. We have surpassed 100 members! This is a very exciting milestone and we are thrilled by the number of people who have chosen to join our community! If you haven't done so already, we would really appreciate your participation in the Advertising Feedback Poll posted on our previous announcement.
Scripturient is on Tumblr!
We now have an official Tumblr account for Scripturient: scripturient-roleplay. As with our Twitter account, our Tumblr account is used to post about site announcements and also to engage with the broader writing and roleplaying community on the platform to attract new members. In addition, we will reblog writing and roleplaying memes, plot ideas, and character ideas. Feel free to follow the blog if you would like to see these posts!
New Subforum
We have created another new subforum that we hope you all will find useful. Over the years, we've noticed a decline in the participation and creation of group roleplays on forum websites, especially those with literacy requirements. It can be intimidating to make one as there is a justifiable fear that no one will join. As a solution to this problem, we have created the Interest Check subforum, where you can post an interest check for a group roleplay idea you have to see if it's worth the effort of acting on. For more information on interest checks, see the Interest Check thread.
New Profile Field
In place of the default (and rather limited) "Gender" profile field, we have created a "Pronouns" field. Rather than the old dropdown menu with the outdated and marginalizing "male, female, or other" options, there is now a textbox where you can enter your pronouns. This field also appears on the postbit beside your posts on the site so that others can more easily see your pronouns and use the correct terms to refer to you. You can add your pronouns by going to the User CP and choosing "Edit Profile".
Regarding the Listings Forum
It has come to our attention that not everyone is aware of the Listings forum or how to properly use it. To amend this, we have created the How to Use The Listings Forum thread as a reference tool. To clarify, the Private Roleplays forum is strictly for private roleplays. Searches and advertising should be posted on the Private RP Search Thread or in the Listings forum. We apologize for the lack of clarity!
Looking Ahead
Along with the confusion with the Listings forum, we've realized that some of our site members are new to using a forum website or unfamiliar with how to navigate our site layout. To remedy this, we plan to make Help Documents for navigating the site and utilizing the forums properly. Help Documents are resources that can be found under the "Help" tab of the navigation bar located at the top of every page. For the time being, please feel free to reach out to a staff member with any questions you may have about anything regarding the website. We are happy to assist you! As mentioned in the previous announcement, we still have a Discord server and custom BBCode tags in the works. Again, we are a small team doing all of this on a voluntary basis during our free time and we appreciate your patience while we work to make these improvements and features available!
We are so grateful for all of the folks who have chosen to be a part of our community! You are the heart and soul of this place and the reason for us to make it the best roleplay community site it can be!
